Nasal polypectomy is a surgical procedure conducted by one of our Dallas-Fort Worth ENT specialists to remove polyps located in the nasal passages. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes. During the polypectomy surgery procedure, the polyps will be removed using special suction and instruments such as a microdebrider. After removal, a biopsy is often performed in order to make sure the removed tissues are not cancerous.
Large nasal polyps can block your nasal passages causing breathing difficulty, frequent sinus infections and loss of sense of smell or taste. If conservative treatments for nasal polyps have not been successful, a polypectomy procedure may be recommended.
Please contact us if you have any further questions or would like to schedule an evaluation for polypectomy from a DFW Sinus Select ear, nose, and throat specialist.
